I had to clear my first post in order to ensure that my blog does not look ridiculous. Today is May 28th, and in seven hours my three year old princess Eva goes in to have her right rear leg amputated. I plan on posting an updated blog post later on, with some scans and more information on our situation.
I am so grateful for all of you already.
Good luck!!! Our dog did great and we hope same for you.
abbysmamma on 05.28.15 @ 6:25 amThat’s great! Eva’s doing awesome so far, but she’s been home only for the day. Since she had no use of the leg for a long time leading up to her amp, she gets around like she’s normal. Just gotta keep her calm and resting so that nasty incision can seal itself up good!
mushyeva on 05.30.15 @ 4:36 amWelcome Eva!!! And don’t EVER worry about anything looking ridiculous around here!!! As soon as you see how bad my typing is and yet I keep posting anyway, you’ll not worry about “ridiculous” anymore!! 🙂
I saw an earlier reply and know that Eva’s leg is being amputated and not sure of diagnosis but it is painful and needs to go! I know the dec isn’t an easy one, but youll be amazed at how well she will do once recovery takes place! And it sounds like she’s already been getting around on three legs anyway so she’s had practice!!
Stay connected to us and let us know how we can support you. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
A couple of thousghts to help you prepare for when Eva comes home….depending on how big she is, you may want to get raised food and water bowls so she won’t have to strain …..also, if you have hardwood floors put down some non slip scatter rugs for traction.
And keep lots of chocolate around for you!!!
While she’s spending the night at the vets try and get some rest! There maybe a few sleepless nights ahead!
Can’t wait to hear .ore about Princess Eva and see some.pics when you can!!
Sending lots of positive energy your way and surrounding you with hugs and love!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
benny55 on 05.28.15 @ 2:39 pmThank you so much! We’re definitely really worried because there’s no definitive diagnosis, while we are kinda sure it’s OS, we won’t know until the path results come back. As of this second, she’s in surgery, and doing perfect. They haven’t really gotten a chance to investigate the inside of the mass (as it is located under her stifle and the amputation was conducted at mid femur) but we all could tell from the scans that it was disgusting *you could see it without the scans, the big ol bump* and there was no way to salvage the bone even if the end diagnosis is not a malignant cancer. She’s been in really bad pain the last few weeks, so we’ve gotten no sleep together, and she’s taken quite a liking to hand feeding as opposed to eating out of her bowl (she was hospitalized for four days due to rimadyl toxicity *another long story* and came back absolutely traumatized) so something tells me that the recovery from her amp can’t be too much worse!
I appreciate all the kind words from everyone in this forum!
mushyeva on 05.28.15 @ 5:13 pmGood luck, Eva!

Michelle on 05.28.15 @ 10:37 pmThanks so much! She’s home and resting but definitely seems more comfortable than she was the morning before the surgery and the two weeks leading up to it! That’s gotta count for something 🙂
mushyeva on 05.30.15 @ 4:35 amEva and family, we are thinking of you and sending all our best for a speedy recovery! Keep us posted OK? Thanks for starting a blog.
jerry on 05.29.15 @ 11:57 amThank you so much! We appreciate all of the support! Heck, it’s nice to even just have somewhere to talk about it where people don’t act like I’m “overly obsessed”
